Before jumping in to trip details, a little word on baby Clark! We had an appointment 2 days before the trip and all is well still! We are so thankful to keep getting great reports. Our appointments are now 2 weeks apart instead of 4 and we will be checking in on the little guy again this Friday. It is crazy to think that he will be here in less than 2 months! Please continue to pray for his growth and development as we reach the due date :)
Back to San Diego...
The trip will be best told through pictures, so here we go!
Day 1:
We landed at 930 am so we had a full day right from the beginning! We decided to explore Old Town and try some of the delicious Mexican food we had been hearing about. It was a nice treat :)
After Old Town we headed to our resort for some relaxation by the pool!
Day 2:
The new pirate exhibit at the museum of natural history was calling our names! (Okay calling Chris' name but I enjoyed it as well). They had the only real pirate treasure ever discovered on display! After the museum we walked around Balboa park for a bit and Chris listened to me reminisce about the last time I was there for choir tour with Prestonwood. We also managed to eat at 2 restaurants featured on man vs food in one day. Lucha Libre, which had the best burrito we have ever eaten, and Phil's BBQ. With Chris' appetite and me being 8 months pregnant we had no problem taking down the challenge ;)
Day 3:
This was the most relaxing of all. We literally stayed at the pool the whole day and attended a padres game that evening (where Chris took down his 2nd luncha libre burrito)!
Day 4:
Coronado Island day! For all of you that know Chris well, you know this was his favorite day because the seals train on coronado island. He is still coping with the fact that he is now 30 and the cut off is 29... poor guy. We toured the Hotel Del coronado, grabbed a treat at a fabulous ice cream shop, did some souvenir shopping, and spent a little time at the beach!
Day 5:
Day five was spent in La Jolla at the aquarium and La Jolla cove! The aquarium was small but wonderful! We especially loved that the shark exhibit was all local sharks. Chris found some cool sea horses that looked like dragons. I think we spent a good 15 minutes at their tank. When we headed to the cove we were excited to find sea lions EVERYWHERE. We could have done without the smell but the experience was well worth it!
We returned home Saturday morning and had a life group outing that night! For you Texans, our life group is basically our Sunday school class of newlyweds that meets on Sunday nights. We all went bowling together since we wouldn't be meeting for Easter Sunday. Not to brag (okay I am bragging) at 8 months pregnant I bowled a 154! And for those of you that need proof...
And last but certainly not least we attended Easter services yesterday to celebrate our risen Lord! We were also celebrating 2 years of ministry at Alderwood! Let me just say how much we LoVe and are constantly blessed by our church family here in Washington! Looking forward to more years serving alongside Chris at this amazing church.
Happy Easter from our growing family to yours!
